Overview
Members of each team are tasked with passing cards as quickly as possible in relay style to move the whole deck of cards from one location to the other faster than the other team.
Time
15 Minutes
Tools/Items Required
- Two decks of playing cards
Setup
Split the whole class into two equal teams standing in two lines facing each other. Ask members of each team to line up next to each other shoulder to shoulder.
Put a deck of cards beside the foot of the players at one end of each line.
Rules
- The players at one end must reach down and pick up one card at a time from the deck on the floor.
- Each card must be passed hand to hand along the line to the final player.
- The final player places the card on a pile beside them on the floor.
- If a card is dropped, the team must pause until it’s picked up again.
- No team member may hold more than one card at a time.
All 52 cards must be used and are to be counted at the end. Teams will have 5 minutes to plan their strategies before starting. The team that completes the exercise first is declared the winner.

What’s the Point?

1. Assembly Line Efficiency
Similar to “Pass the Cards,” this activity involves teams simulating a product assembly line where each member has one specific step to complete (e.g., folding, labeling, packing). It teaches time management, task delegation, and flow optimization.
2. Chain of Trust
Team members must pass a small object (like a marble or ball) down a row using only spoons or tubes without dropping it. This encourages steady hands, careful coordination, and collaborative timing—perfect for building trust and attention to detail.
